Pre-Conference

A special Pre-Conference Tutorial (for limited participants) on the topic ‘Synchrotron Radiation for Materials Characterization’ followed by a guided visit to Indus-1 and Indus-2 synchrotrons at RRCAT, Indore will be organized on Monday, December 2, 2024. The tutorial aims to provide doctoral and postdoctoral researchers with a general overview of the characteristics and potentiality of Indus synchrotron radiation. A broad-based introduction on design, operation and research opportunities offered at the Indus synchrotron sources, their applications in physics, chemistry, materials science and biology/medicines will be illustrated. In this tutorial, some of the most used experimental methods, e.g., x-ray diffraction, photo-emission, absorption, florescence spectroscopies, and x-ray scattering techniques etc. will be discussed in detail. The lectures will be given in English by well-known Indian scientists with long standing experience on the use of Indus synchrotron radiation.
